How to Add Color to Your Wardrobe
Are you tired of wearing black, beige, navy? Are you ready to spice up your wardrobe by adding color to it, but don’t know where to start? Girl, I got you! I know black, beige, and navy are easy to pair when it comes to styling, but how are you styling other colors such as pink, purple and orange? Using color doesn’t always have to be a clothing item. It can be a color accessory that can enhance your outfit. Bright colors and bold prints are staple pieces in my wardrobe.
When it comes to adding color to your wardrobe, the first thing you need to do is assess all the colors that you currently have. I have every color in the rainbow in my closet EXCEPT for PURPLE. In my opinion, purple doesn't pair well with my skintone so I never purchase it. I am certain we all have colors we think that aren’t appealing to us. After you assess the colors you have, the second thing you need to do is write down the colors or prints you would like to add. Take this part seriously because this is how we are going to elevate your wardrobe. Don’t be scared, a little color will not hurt anybody. Now that you have your colors you want to add into your wardrobe, it's time to put on a fashion show. Take a selfcare trip to your local mall, Marshall, TJMaxx or even Ross to explore bold colors and prints. Pick them out, try them on, take videos and selfies in them. Send them to your friends and family members and get their opinion (only if you want to). Gain your self-confidence, it will take time to adjust but I believe in you.
Let’s recap, write down and assess all the colors you have currently, then add colors you want to implement in your wardrobe, play dress up in various stores to gain your confidence. The third and final step we must take is to style those new pieces you brought home. This is the fun part! Suppose you picked up a yellow sweater to add to your wardrobe at the advice of your friend, below are a few ways you could style that sweater.
