Tamboli’s Pasta & Pizza
Tamboli's hands down has the best pizza and pasta in Memphis. It is an Italian Restaurant located in Midtown Memphis off Madison Ave. You can make a reservation on toast.com to indulge in this dining experience. Tamboli’s offers indoor, outdoor, and bar seating areas. One thing that I learned about the pasta loving, pizza making restaurant Is that they source all of their ingredients locally to make every meal that is served. I love the fact that Tamboli's pasta and pizza is handmade. They also participate in the local Farmers Market that is located Downtown Memphis.
Upon arrival around 6:00 pm with my guest we were greeted at the door with a smile. We didn’t make a reservation but luckily a table of three was available and it took less than two minutes to be seated. For future dining, I will make a reservation in advance.
Vick, our waitress, did an excellent job serving my friends and I. Vick’s personality was lovely and positive. She recommended great food selections for us to try. We ended up ordering the Bavette Steak, Cheesy Garlic Sticks, Dancing Pigs BBQ Chicken Pizza, and Lemon Pepper Fettuccine with Chicken. Yes, that is a lot of food but we all had a chance to share a little bit of everything. Each selection we ordered came out in a timely manner, we weren’t waiting long at all.
For appetizers we indulged in the cheesy garlic sticks that were heavenly. My favorite part was dipping the bread into the freshly made marinara sauce. I could’ve eaten the marinara sauce with a spoon, that’s how good it was. I ordered the Bavette Steak which was accompanied by patate arrosto( potatoes) and verde burro (coleslaw mix). The steak was cooked to my liking. It was juicy, tender and seasoned well. The potatoes had just the right amount of crisp to them and were easy to cut. The coleslaw mix tied everything together.
Next up, is the Dancing Pigs BBQ Chicken Pizza loaded with bbq sauce, shredded mozzarella, red onions, jalapeños, candied bacon and wood-fire roasted chicken topped with spicy ranch. Freshly made, hot and flavorful at the same time. The jalapeños gave it the extra spice kick it needed and now I only order pizza with jalapeños on it. It was so much food, we had leftovers for lunch.
The Lemon Pepper Fettuccine with Chicken, if you are a pasta lover like me then this one is for you. The fettuccine is made fresh to order so you are not eating soggy noodles. The scrumptious pasta was lightly flaked with bread crumbs and chives which elevated the taste.
Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, it wasn't too loud. You couldn't hear the voices at the next table, which I liked. Tamboli’s is spacious and the front area is driven by plants which is one of the reasons that drew my attention to visit the restaurant and my obsession with pasta. The downfall for me was parking on the street. I wish they had a better parking system just to be safe leaving and coming to the restaurant.
