To Be Loved By God
Have you ever stopped to think about what the true meaning of LOVE is? The purpose of it? How do we experience it? We say the words “I love you” often, but do we actually mean it? Is it a hug from your mother? The cuddles of a baby? The companionship of an animal? Many of us associate love with our hearts, that’s beating one hundred thousand times a day. I believe that this four letter word, one that holds great weight and adds value to our lives, can’t be shown only with material things. It’s a deep affection shown through emotions and goes beyond all understanding.
I remember the first time I realized God’s unconditional love for me. It was back in 2022; I was driving to work and listening to Tashas Cobb’s, “He Knows My Name.” It was in that moment that I began to worship and cry out to God, and thank Him for His love. Just as parents have love for their children, I was beginning to understand the love the Father exudes for me, as His daughter. That day, I was overtaken by His Love.
Understanding the depths of which God loves us is both mind blowing and overwhelming. As I type this, I just keep smiling at the fact that He loves me so much and you too. Even when we mess up, He loves us. Even when we wander in our mind, He loves us and brings our attention back to Him. He forgives us for our sins of commission and omission. He gives us grace and mercy. He will never leave us or forsake us. No matter what we do or how bad it is, God still and will forever love us. “We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4).
